Pregnancy

It's about time for the platies to come out of quarantine. I lost one of them early on. It was one of those unexplainable deaths. Happy, active, no sign of disease or sickness the next day she's dead on the bottom of the tank. The other two have been doing ok and I'm really enjoying having the QT tank running in my office again.

I've decided that I'm going to leave the platies in QT until they give birth. Once the little ones are free swimming both mommies are going in the main tank. I'll give the little ones a couple weeks to mature before looking for some new fish for QT. Probably some more panda cories.

this is not about the pregnancy...my healthy fancy tail guppy just died after being stuck to the intake of my Eclipse 6 filter...I found your site after looking for help on what to do...and I would be sad to think that your pretty blue betta might get stuck...so...suggestions found on the web include putting a piece of aquaclear sponge around the intake, thus keeping the fish from getting stuck and dying...

I hate to say it, but unless you have no strainer on the intake a healthy fish isn't going to have a problem with the filter intake. Shark nibbles of bits of things he finds in the intake and occasionally perches below it.

If a fish gets stuck to an intake the fish is sick.
